What to check before you buy

  • Water: at least one gallon per person per day, for several days
  • A few days' supply of non-perishable food and a manual can opener
  • A first-aid kit and a supply of prescription medicines
  • A flashlight, battery or hand-crank radio and extra batteries
  • Copies of important documents and some cash
  • Supplies for pets, babies or anyone with special needs
Claims to be careful with. Be cautious with survival products sold with fear-based marketing or fake countdown timers. Check refund terms and whether the product is a digital guide or physical gear.
